1. What Pake sends
When you activate a license, Pake sends Dodo Payments the license key and a device name made of your computer's name, its platform and the first 8 characters of a SHA-256 hash of its hardware ID (IOPlatformUUID on Mac, MachineGuid on Windows, /etc/machine-id on Linux). The hardware ID itself never leaves your computer. Pake then checks the license with Dodo Payments when it starts and from time to time after that. When the license card lists the devices on a key, or a licensed copy fetches an app icon from the gallery, Pake sends the key to https://pake.run/api, which reads the answer from Dodo Payments and stores only SHA-256 hashes of the key, never the key itself.
2. What Pake does not send
Pake has no analytics, telemetry or crash reporting. It does not send us the websites you turn into apps, what you do in them or your sign-ins. The apps you make load only the websites you chose and send nothing to Pake.
3. Other requests
- Updates: Pake for Mac checks
https://pake.run/updates/mac/appcast.xmlthrough Sparkle about once a day, Pake for Windows checkshttps://pake.run/updates/windows/through Velopack, and Pake for Linux checkshttps://pake.run/updates/linux/latest.json, each at launch and then once a day. - Gallery: Pake reads the gallery from
https://pake.run/gallery/v1/at launch and then once a day. - When you paste an address, Pake reads that website's page, manifest and icons to fill in its name and icon, and searches the App Store (
itunes.apple.com) with the site's name for a sharper icon.
4. Third-party services
Dodo Payments is the merchant of record for Pake. It handles checkout, billing, license key delivery, refunds and invoices, and collects your name, email and billing address during checkout under its own privacy policy. The website uses Google Analytics in consent mode with storage denied, so it sets no cookies; Google processes those page requests under its own privacy policy. Its contact section asks mole.fit, another site of mine, for follower and star counts without cookies. The purchase page that shows your key loads no analytics, and the desktop app does not include Google Analytics.
5. Data storage
The license key stays on your computer: in the macOS Keychain on Mac, with a signed copy in ~/Library/Application Support/com.tw93.Pake, in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Pake encrypted for your Windows account on Windows, and in the Secret Service keyring on Linux. Pake for Windows also keeps license.log, the times of its license checks without the key, and crash.log in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Pake\logs; neither is uploaded.
6. Your rights
You can deactivate a computer at any time from the license card. You may also request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold by emailing hi@pake.run. We will respond within 30 days. If you are in the EU/EEA, you have additional rights under the GDPR, including data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
